U14 Tournament Day   25/03/2022

On Sunday 20th March around 80 players and 20 fantastic volunteers arrived with their clubs at Shankill Leisure centre to take part in our U14 development tournament.

This year more than ever this tournament had an important purpose, to build confidence and reinforce a positive link with our beautiful game of netball after 2 long years of disruption for those players who maybe didn’t get to play much, if at all, in the leagues.

For several of the teams taking part this was their first opportunity to play an actual match so huge congratulations to all those first timers getting out on court against a different club. The event was able to take place in the double court facility in Belfast due to support given by Belfast City Council and their half term activity fund , so just to note a huge thank you to the Sports development team there and the staff at Shankill L.C.

We had teams from Donaghadee LNC, Laganside NC, Holywood NC, Newcastle NC, Antrim NC, Down NC, Ballyclare NC & Crumlin Community NC, along with a large number supporters for all teams who made good use of the viewing gallery above the courts to cheer on their charges.

Each club was assigned a court to play round robin games in a group of 4 and then they had a final cross over games against a team from the other court with Down Netball Club coming out victorious after all games were played. Each team were given a NNI prize to award to their own player of the tournament back at their club.

As ever we mustn’t forget a huge thank you to our umpires , Catriona Mills & Wannita Broome, who came along to keep everything ship shape and to all those club volunteers who stepped in when needed to make sure the day went off smoothly, thank you all .The day just reinforced that as ever we are #strongestogether.
