DUBS STARS 2018   21/12/2018

Dubs Stars

As you all know by now, tomorrow is THE BIG DAY! No, not Christmas but the annual Dublin Bus/Evening Herald Dub Stars hurling and football matches for 2018. The football starts at 12:00 noon with the hurling starting at 1:30pm. There will be NO PARKING in the club on Saturday and we are asking people to walk or use public transport. The 17a route starts at Páirc Bharróg and the DART is 200m away. The reason for the early date this year is that Jim Gavin’s team will be heading off on their celebratory holiday on 27th December; a cruise to Kerry via Cork, Donegal, Galway, Meath and Mayo, I believe.

Please come down in your Barróg gear if you can and if you have arranged for your team to come down please keep them together and singing... anything except Baby Shark!

There will be portable toilets down by the bike rack, past the clubhouse. There will be NO ACCESS to the toilets in the Juvenile room Disabled toilet will be open in the dressing room corridor but it is not for general usage.

This is a very big day for the club in a number of ways. We will have the eyes of Dublin GAA on us and they will be expecting a well-run, safe and enjoyable event and they have faith in us to do that. This is our second time hosting the Dubs Stars, the first time in 2009 was a great success. We have taken our experiences from then and added them to the vast repertoire of experience of event hosting, GAA occasions, health and safety and fundraising that exists within the club to make what we know will be a great day out for the family. Please be vigilant and report anything that may cause concern to the stewards, the Gardaí on duty or any organising committee member.

As this is a large scale event that requires a lot of control and organisation we ask that members obey the instructions of the stewards and cooperate fully. If you have a suggestion to improve any aspect please make it known. We are relying on our members to help us make this a success, both for the club and for the teams involved and the paying supporters.

Admission on the day is €10 FOR ALL ADULTS and free for children under 16. There are NO concessions for OAPs, students, Parnell Park Pass holders, Croke Park Season Tickets holders, Bus Passes, the Legion of Mary, Dáil bar passes, glitterati, paparazzi, YouTube influencers, lobbyists or conscientious objectors.

Enjoy the matches tomorrow, we have the best hurlers and footballers in Dublin playing on our pitch!
