Clubnotes 26th June 2018   28/06/2018

On Friday June 15th the container we use in St. Anne’s Park for storing portable goals, nets for main pitches, flags and poles and our defibrillator was set on fire and everything inside was destroyed. Since then we have had a wave of support from local sports clubs, businesses, parents, local people and distant people, all offering to help us. On the back of that we established a GoFundMe page called Replacement Equipment & Container which has received great support, reaching over halfway to our target of €10,000 but we’re not there yet! A huge thank you to everyone who made a donation to help us, míle, míle buíochas go léir. Please forward the link to anyone you think might be interested in helping us.

Following on from the appeal for help, the club was contacted by representatives of the Ciarán Carr Foundation with a view to replacing the destroyed defibrillator. On Thursday 28th at 8:30pm in Áras Bharróg, the Foundation will present the club with a new defibrillator so if you’re around why not drop in for a chat.

This Friday the club will hold another of our new-format multi-meeja quizzes when MC Ashley Sheridan takes the microphone in Áras Bharróg to raise funds for of the U9 and U11 teams. The quiz will feature audio and visual questions, as well as audio-visual, using the big screen and a whole pile of wires and gadgets. €10 per head, teams of four. No cheating, doping, bribing, scribing, cogging, googling, yahooing, friend-phoning or audience-asking. Lifetime bans will be given out with no recourse to the CCCCCCCCCC, the DRA, the IRA or the Supreme Court.

Following the success of last year’s Elite Coaching Course, the club will run another one this year but with the catchier title on Youth Coaching/Seminar Sessions 2018. Rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? This will be for players too old for the Summer Camps, looking for something a bit more challenging. The course will run from Tuesday 17th to Thursday 19th July for ages 13-16. Inter-county coaches will take the on field activities and plus discussions on strength and conditioning, nutrition and mental wellbeing with qualified coaches. Watch Facebook, twitter and website for forms and additional details. Final date for registration is 15th July.
