Kerry Under 21 Hurlers in All Ireland Final 2017-08-19 18:00:00

All Ireland Under 21 B Hurling Semi Final

Kerry 1-23

Meath 1-9

Kerry are through to the All Ireland Under 21 B Final following a semi final victory over Meath at Semple Stadium this afternoon and they now go forward to the final where they will play either Kildare or Wicklow (who throw in at 5pm in Arklow)  in the curtain raiser to the All Ireland Under 21 Final on Saturday September 9th.

Meath had first use of the wind and though Shane Conway and Michael O’Leary pointed Kerry in front, Meath got in for a soft goal in the 9th minute. Michael O’Leary and Shane Conway pointed to level the game after 20 minutes but Kerry were now beginning to make inroads in the Meath defence and they went on to add 7 points to their tally before the break with Shane Conway unerring from frees and the likes of Michael O’Leary very accurate from play. At the break it was 0-11 to 1-4 for Kerry with wind advantage to come.

Kerry restarted in tremendous fashion with Shane Conway pointing twice from play and Eoin Ross doing likewise with two equally good scores and these scores were followed by one each from Barry O’Sullivan and Ronan Donovan to put Kerry 8 points clear by the three quarter stage. Meath added a couple of points but Shane Conway had another brace of points to regain their 8 point advantage with seven minutes on the clock. Conway, who had a personal tally of 8 points to his credit, added 2 more before Eoin Ross finished a fine display with a goal from a long range free in the final minute to bring his total to 1-3 and cap a fine display from the Kerry boys.

Kerry lined out as selected and introduced Brandon Barett, Jack Leen, Darragh Ryan, Adrian O’Mahony and John Hussey during the course of the game.

Scorers: Shane Conway 0-8 (5 frees), Michael O’Leary 0-6, Eoin Ross 1-3, Barry O’Sullivan, Tomás O’Connor, John Buckley and Ronan Donovan 0-1 each.
