MUNSTER U 16 FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT. 2016-07-09 21:09:00


On Saturday 2nd July the John O Donovan Memorial Munster u 16 Boys Football Tournament took place.
Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick, Clare, Cork A. Cork B, Kerry North and Kerry South participated.
Both Kerry teams were on opposite sides of the draw.
Kerry North were victorious over Cork B (white) in the Quarter Final.
Kerry South were victorious over Limerick in their Quarter Final.

Kerry North were up against tournament favourite’s Cork A (red) in the semi-final.
This was probably the best game of the tournament with both teams exchanging point for point in the first half in what was a very physical game from the minute the ball was thrown in.
As second half got underway the intensity brought by the Kerry boys rose a notch led by their led by their captain Luka Brosnan, took the game to Cork with the Horan twins Sean and Eddie, Dylan Casey, William Goodwin, David Shannahan and Sean O Connell working tirelessly.
Forwards Mikey Kelliher, Sean Kissane, Shay Walsh and Deivaidas Uosis kicked some great scores to see Kerry North progress to the final.

Kerry South had a comfortable win over Tipperary in their semi-final with Jack Enright, Dara Casey and Dara Cleary impressing.
It was great to see both Kerry teams reaching the final. It auger’s well for the future of Kerry Football.

The final was played in glorious sunshine in the fabulous Newcastlewest’s GAA Grounds.
North Kerry got off to a flying start with a goal from Mikey Keliiher within 2 minutes.
North Kerry never looked back and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

North Kerry captain Luka Brosnan accepted the John O Donovan Memorial from Conor Fitzgerald of the Woodlands Hotel Adare sponsors.
Well done to the Kerry management team of James Costello Manager, Selectors Pa McCarthy, Wayne Qunilivan and Luke Mulligan.
Well done to South Kerry on reaching the final.
