Comórtas Poc Fada Chiarraí 2016 is on at Kerry Head Mountain on Sunday next @ 1pm

The Kerry long puck competition was launched at O’Regan’s Lounge , Ballyheigue on Sunday the 29th of May by John Brassil T.D. It will take place at Kerryhead Mountain on Sunday the 5th of June at 1.00pm sharp.

Ger McCarthy Kerry Hurling Officer said that this will be the fourth year in a row that the Kerry finals have been held at Kerryhead mountain in what he described as a challenging course. There are five competitions going on simultaneously, under 16 hurling and camogie and senior hurling and camogie. This year an additional category has been added for veterans. The winners will go forward to represent Kerry in the Munster final, which will be held in the Burren, Co. Clare in June.

The winner in each category will be the competitor that completes the course in the least number of pucks. In the event of a tie there will be a separate short competition.

Hurling Officer Ger McCarthy thanked the North Kerry hurling board for sponsoring the event. He also thanked the clubs and the players for supporting the competition. The long puck competition has been a great success over the past number of years and that this was down to the support received from both the Hurling and Camogie clubs

Pat Dineen representing the North Kerry Board said that the Board were delighted to be associated with the long puck and wished the organisers and competitors well.

The prize giving ceremony will take place afterwards at O’Regan’s lounge.
