Féile South West 2016 Newsletter
Issue 1 March

The Big Reveal on March 31st
Save the date folks as all will be revealed on March 31st 2016, when the announcements of the all 16 Divisions will be made known live at the Brehon Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry from 8pm.

As it is envisaged that this event will bring unprecedented interest, people are asked to make sure that all those members of your local Féile club Committee are in attendance.

For some clubs they will leave the event knowing their exact visiting club as some counties have already nominated their club representatives. For others they will know their visiting county and they can wait with interest to see who wins out at that county over the following weeks.

After weeks of negotiating and meetings with local groups, the list of local parades has been finalised. Replacing the single parade, the Feile SW 2016 Committee have introduced a Parade weekend to be held in at the same time to give the whole region a festival feel.
In Limerick, Newcastlewest will host the local parade, while in Cork Carragaline will host city teams with North Cork based teams heading to Kanturk.

In the Kingdom, there are a number of venues across the county: Tralee and Killarney will host the bigger parades, with Listowel, Dingle, Kenmare and Cahirciveen hosting teams along the various peninsulas as well as North Kerry.
Clubs are asked to attend the venue nearest to them or within their district and to make sure that your visiting team is brought along to share in the occasion.
As we are conscious that we want to make an occasion of it for the whole club, we are encouraging host clubs to also parade their Academy’s such as their Under 6’s, Under 8’s and
Under 10’s.
We know that this is a big under taking but we want to leave a legacy of Feile with those who in the future will aspire to compete in the national competition.
More information will be revealed in the coming weeks, as in times, meeting points and parking facilities within the towns.

Video Link Request

In order to promote the Féile we are using social media to have a constant feed flowing leading up to the weekend. We are asking for your help to provide us with feed for our social media pages. We are looking for each club to send us a video-clip of a representative(s) of your club speaking about how much they are looking forward to the Féile. The representative can be anybody from your community; suggestions include county players, a club member, and community legend. In effect, anybody you wish. You may wish to have players/management talk of previous Féile experiences down through the years.
We are attaching a link to a video clip from Martin Skelly that can be viewed on our Facebook page and used as a guide.
The video can be made with a camera phone or laptop. The clip should be at most 1 minute long.
Please load and email the file as an attachment to Damien at farran2@eircom.net
Please include the name of the person on the video and the name of your club. If you use an under 18 please include a scanned copy of the parental/guardian permission.

John West unveiled as New National sponsor
