Minor Hurlers through to Munster Final

  Date : 25/06/2009 13:26

Waterfords minor hurlers produced a storming second half performance to clinch a place in the 2009 Munster Final.

Trailing  by four points (0 - 9 to 1 - 2) at half time, the transformation in the second half was total. In truth Clare dominated most sectors in the opening 30 minutes and but for a superb goal from Brian OHalloran the game would have been beyond Waterford.

The introduction of Mt. Sions Ian Galgey proved a master stroke. His pace caused the Clare defence all kinds of trouble. Goals from Galgey & Paudie Prendergast put Waterford in the driving seat.

From four points in front at the break, Clare now were five behind. The Waterford back line held firm with Darragh Fives & Philip Mahoney in particular standing out.

So Waterford have now qualified for a Munster Final "double" on 12th July a feat not achieved for a very long time.

Final score Waterford 3 - 9  Clare  0 - 12
