New General Manager for Volleyball Ireland   29/03/2018

Volleyball Ireland are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Stewart as their new General Manager.  He will take up the position on April 9th.

Gary joins the organisation from the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus, where he has spent the last four years as the Sports Programmes Manager.  During that time he has played a pivotal role setting up a range of participation raising programmes including October’s inaugural Family SportFest.  Stewart’s work on inclusivity was instrumental in the Campus winning the Fitness & Leisure Centre of the year award at the CARA Centre National Inclusion Awards in 2017.

Commenting on the appointment, President of Volleyball Ireland Grainne Culliton said, “This is an exciting stage in the development of Irish Volleyball and we are delighted that someone of Gary’s calibre will be driving our development programme forward.”

Volleyball Ireland is the National Governing body for the sport in Ireland, and this year sees the organisation celebrate its 50th birthday. The General Manager position has been created to oversee and deliver Volleyball Ireland’s new strategic plan.

Over 3,000 children participate in Volleyball Ireland’s schools programme, whilst it is also a key recipient of Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport funding, delivering a range of focussed initiatives across the country.
