Presidents Message

I am deeply honoured to represent you as President of our great Club this season. I am delighted to have been elected and given this opportunity.

The season ahead promises to be an exciting one, both on and off the pitch in Anglesea Road. We are providing state of the art changing room facilities, befitting a Club of our status and diversity.  I have no doubt that members will also enjoy the enhanced views of the pitches from the new terrace situated off the first floor bar. A huge thanks to all those members who generously donated to this impressive development.

On the field, we will send out 5 adult male teams, 2 Under 20’s male teams and 3 adult women’s teams.  Our men’s Senior XV are in a very competitive AIL Division 1A, which has 7 Dublin based clubs. Our women’s Senior XV will defend their AIL title following last seasons’ third successive win.  This season we will also field Under 13 and Under 14 Youths’ teams, as we strive to bridge the gap between our very successful Mini section through to Under 20’s. Sunday mornings will see over 500 children learning and enjoying Mini Rugby, from Under 6 to Under 12.

For our Senior Squad we are extremely fortunate to have retained the coaching expertise of Paul Cunningham and Andy Dunne.  The experienced John Kennedy, with well over 100 AIL caps, will be Club Captain.  There have also been some top quality new players arriving into our Club, and I have every confidence in their ability to beat any team in their league on the day.  Responsibility for overall rugby direction lies with Mervyn Feely.

Our thanks go to all our sponsors who contribute so valuably to the running costs of our club; particular thanks go to our main sponsor Dermot Desmond, through The Sporting Emporium.

I would also like to thank in advance all those who support our great club as team members or management, those who serve on committees and those who cheer on our teams from the touchline.
