This Sunday, July 10th, Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry are hosting a number of hurling games to mark the recent development of the magnificent community pitch in Duniry. Annaghdown 1-8 v Sylane 0-5 Annaghdown U14 hurlers are the new county champions after beating Sylane in the Ocean Hygiene U14 hurling Championship (Div D) in Kenny Park Athenry on Saturday last 11-Jun. The team had a well deserved win after staging an excellent comeback in the second half. The Annaghdown lads did not start well and Sylane largely took control of the game in the first half. Athenry man Hanley aims to meet native county in Leinster 1/4s

John McIntyre and Galway senior hurlers should know their opponents in their Leinster championship quarter-final clash this Sunday evening when the hurlers of Westmeath travel down to Dr. Cullen Park to take challenge with Carlow. St Brigids capped a fabulous year on the hurling field yesterday when they defeated Roscrea VS in an enthralling game on a scoreline of 4-14 to 4-12. Congratulations to all concerned. The Cup will be displayed to the attendence at todays League match v Tipperary. At half time recent Galway All Ireland winners, including Clarenbridge, Ballindereen, Killimor Camogie, St Brigids Juniors and Medtronic will also be in attendence.

Clarenbridge and Turloughmore qualified for the Q-Finals of this years competition following close wins over Tommy Larkins and Ballindereen last evening. Clarenbridges 4-10 to 3-10 win sets up a repeat of first round game with Pearses in the Q-Final while Turloughs 1-20 to 3-9 win sees them play the winners of Sarsfields and Liam Mellows, which is down for decision next friday evening. Galway stars return to Club action

Portumna's Joe Canning and Damien Hayes made their return to club hurling last evening when they lined out against Kinvara, which included Shane kavanagh, in a highly entertaining Senior League game played at Kinvara last evening. Portumna eventually won by 2-22 to 2-16. Canning was very sharp , particularly from the placed ball while Hayes scored 4 points from play. Kavanagh lined out at no. 11 for Kinvara, the three players lasted the 60 minutes which is great news for John McIntyre and all Galway supporters....

The Galway Hurling Club of Boston recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding in 1909. The Banquet was held in Florian Hall in Boston with almost 500 people in attendance.
