Senior Championship

The Downs played their final group game last Saturday evening against an experienced Tyrrellspass side. Unfortunately, the lads luck was out on several occasions throughout the game and lost out on a scorline of 3-08 to 0-12. The result means we now face Mullingar Shamrocks in the quarter final this coming Sunday at 5:30pm in Cusack Park.

Junior Championship

The Junior side kept their unbeaten run going in this year’s championship with a quarter final victory over St. Pauls in Kinnegad last Sunday. The Downs started the game brightly and established a strong lead following a goal from the excellent Ciaran Nolan, the lads added further points to ensure they held the lead at the break 1-07 to 0-04. The Downs kept the scoreboard ticking over throughout the second half to remain in control. Jack Carroll put the game beyond doubt when he netted the second goal of the game with time nearly up. Full time 2-14 to 0-11. The lads now face Killbeggan Shamrocks next Saturday at 3:30pm in Cusack Park in the semi-final.

U17 Championship

The U17 team overcame a well organised Caulry side last Sunday morning in The Downs to book their place in the semi-final. The Downs were made to work hard for the result and it wasn’t until the closing stages that we managed to open up a significant lead.

The Downs U12’s won the Joe Croash Shield in Killucan last weekend. Well done to all the lads and management.
