All Ireland Junior Club Sevens Competition
17/09/2016
Another great day for the club!
This morning a group of 54 players and supporters left Birmingham for the All Ireland Junior Clubs Sevens competition.
We returned the magnificent tournament Shield today, engraved with Sean
McDermotts as the 2014 and 2015 competition winners, a massive
achievement for our players and our club.
Unfortunately we don't have any silverware to bring home with us this year but we travel home far from disappointed.
Our panel of 12 players qualified for
the Cup competition this year; 10 of whom are Homegrown, 7 are aged
under 25. The lads progressed to the final four, losing to the eventual
competition winners Dundrum (Down). We also had two players nominated
for the prestigious Player of Tournament Award which was won by a
Dundrum player.
This evening we are very proud of our players,
grateful to our travelling supporters and appreciative of family and
friends who travelled up to Dublin from other parts of Ireland to
support us.
Today has definitely been another building block in Sean McDermott's future.
Many thanks to our hosts St Judes; the tournament was again superbly run, the football of a high standard and well officiated.
