Blazing Saddles

·         Every team in Barróg is now represented in the Blazing Saddles fundraiser. If you are involved in a team in the club find out who they are and get behind them by sponsoring them for the event.

·         Blazing Saddles training for the last time this Sunday at 8:00AM. Everyone participating in the cycle should make an effort to attend.

·         The group did over 70KM on Sunday. Well done to all who went out. The photos are on the facebook event page. https://www.facebook.com/events/949772258417119/. ·         We need volunteers for marshals on the day. Contact Caroline Young 0863138823 if you would like to volunteer.

·         The Casino night is this Friday in the Grand Hotel Malahide. Tickets €20 available from any member of the Blazing Saddles Cycling Committee. Cyclists that want to use this to help with their fundraising should contact any member of the Committee as soon as possible. This will be a great club night. Hope you can make it. Important Notices

·         In the local Kilbarrack Tesco there is an opportunity to raise money for Barróg. Ask for a blue chip once you have done your shopping and drop it into the Barróg bucket. All support appreciated.

·         Foundation Level Course – Theory starts this Wednesday the 2nd at 7PM sharp. Foundation level course in football is Saturday 5th at 10am.

·         There will be no mentors meeting this week.

·         Mini leagues starts back on Saturday 19th September.

Events

·         Live music from The Mutts this Saturday night. A new band to the club. All welcome.

·         Barróg will have the Ceili House on the night before the All-Ireland Football Final (Saturday 19th September) this year. Always a great night. All welcome.

·         Damien Dempsey is playing in the club on Saturday 26th September. This is a ticket only event. Tickets €25. Get your name in the book behind the bar as soon as possible as we expect this to sell out.

·         The Live music on Saturday nights for September is attached.

Match Reports

·         Hard luck to the Senior Hurlers who lost their Championship Quarter Final on Saturday.

·         Well done to the Junior hurlers who came back from 6 points down to get a draw against league leaders Castleknock. Final Score 2-18 to 4-12. Goals from Mick McCarthy (2), Cathal Cannon and Aidan Collins. Great performances all round.

·         Congrats to the Minor Hurlers who beat Lucan in the league decider on Wednesday night. Only one game left against Setanta and they win the league. Well done to all involved.

·         Well done to the U15 football team who won their final league match on Thursday evening last beating Liffey Gaels 0-11 to 1-5 and finishing second in the table, gaining promotion.

·         Great win for the U15 Girls Football team who beat Ballyboden in Championship.

·         Great win for the U14 footballers on Tuesday v Round Towers Lusk 3-6 to 0-11. Good performances from Sean Alexander, Sean Walsh and Sean Doyle.

Other News

·         The ticket book for the Dublin v Mayo replay is at the club bar and application for tickets must be made immediately.

·         The lotto is a massive €8,600 this week. Please support the club lotto.

·         Naomh Barróg Golf Society had a very successful and enjoyable outing to St Margarets last Friday. Congratulations to our overall winner Paraic Whelan. Our next outing is Captains Day at Hermitage on September 18th.

·         Well done to the Dublin U16 team who won the All-Ireland Shield on Saturday. They beat Limerick in the final 1-6 to 1-5 in Semple Stadium. Both Jason Byrne and Josh Rooney were on the panel. Jason scored 1-1 in the final including a winning point in the last minute.
