Innisfails 1-14 Naomh Barróg 1-5
League: Division 5 Cup
Location: Innisfails
Date: 20-March-2013
Time: 8PM

The match was originally fixed for Pairc Barróg for the Sunday but an agreement between the teams moved the match to Innisfails so it wouldn't clash with the first league game for the hurlers. Innisfails took the first point but Barróg quickly followed with a goal. Long ball in to the corner forward, with a bit of luck it broke nicely. There was a fast hand pass into Joey Walsh who struck it low and hard into the bottom left corner. The rest of the half was constant attacks from Innisfails. Pressure from the defence made them shoot from a distance resulting in more wides than points. Barróg picked off three points from Tom Purdy, Joey Walsh and Luke Carter who was brought on before the end of the half. The half finished 1-3 to 0-8 points. Barróg were the happier with that scoreline and it was noticable going into thee second half as we were back level in the first 10 minutes. A much better performance for the first 20 minutes of the second half saw a very competitive game of football. Some great passing and movement but more scores didn't come. Innisfeils scored 3 points without reply followed by a great goal into the top corner beating Tony Manton and Kevin Fitzgerald. The Barróg heads didn't drop and challenged until the end. The scoreline in the second half suggested a hammering but that was not the case. This game was only the second outing for the Junior A's this year in a higher division. The lads will learn and use the experience in the next game
