Under 14 Boys                                    -           reports submitted by Kevin Sheehan

After a brief lull Kinsale U14’s have recommenced playing hurling league matches. The return to competition has seen mixed results which is worrying with the championship due to commence on August 20th.

Kinsale 5-8     St. Vincent’s 5-8,

Our 1st game back was away to St. Vincents. This ended in a very competitive draw. This was a fine spirited St. Vincents, best result of their campaign but Kinsale looked out of sorts on the night. It was game that was level at HT and with 10 mins to go we felt we had the game won, with 5 to go we thought it as lost and a last minute goal from John O’Brien saved the day.

Kinsale 5-16      Cobh 0-06

We got back to winning ways with a fine victory on a beautiful Saturday morning overlooking Cork harbour. Kinsale were too strong for a young Cobh side and played well on the day.

Kinsale 1-7      Lisgoold 6-12

It was back to reality last Thursday night when we were well beaten by one of our main divisional rivals Lisgoold.  They were stronger and sharper all over the pitch and the goal before HT to make the game 2-8 to 0-1 at the short whistle more or less sealed their victory. Kinsale tried hard in the 2nd half but it was a bride too far. Many thanks to Belgooly GAA for the use of their facilities on the night.

Upcoming Fixture - TONIGHT

Kinsale   V  Passage

Thursday, 13th August

Home Fixture – Main Pitch, Bandon Road at 7.15pm

As you can see from the league table below it is tight at the top. With 3 league games remaining we can still qualify for the league final.  This starts on TONIGHT, Thursday, August 13th at 7.30 in Kinsale when we entertain Passage. The lads have put in extra training sessions over the last few days and we’re sure that we will have a better performance.

All support would be appreciated.

Championship is at home (again!) versus TRACTON on THURSDAY AUGUST 20th….at 7.30pm.

This would be an ideal opportunity for all the new under age coaches and players to attend to see what lies ahead for them when they proudly represent the blue & white of Kinsale in the championship……

Under 13 Girls Football  - West Cork League          -  report submitted by Mairead Cronin

Very Well Done to the Girls Under 13 Football Team who beat O Donovan Rossa in the West Cork League, held in Skibbereen on Tuesday 11th August.

Kinsale’s Under 13 team had a very good win against O Donovan Rossa in the West Cork League in Skibbereen. ( final score  was 6-9 to 3-5.)

18 players travelled down and it was very much a team effort. All girls got to play . Six of the girls are training with the Under 16’s and they provided wonderful leadership to the rest of the girls. The under 12 girls did really well. It was a much bigger pitch for them but it did not bother them at all. Geraldine Tyner , Niamh Murphy, Faye Ahern and Ava McCarthy all scored great goals. Hannah Kate Finn got some wonderful points and although the home team played much better in the second half, Kinsale always looked the better team. The next match will be at home to Bantry.

Final Score:  6-9  to 3-5.
