Under 16 Hurling Championship: Kinsale 5-10 Laochra Og 3-11                  - report submitted by Brian Murphy.
Kinsale produced an epic comeback to defeat Laochra Og in extra time in the 1stround of the East Hurling Championship. Kinsale started well with a John O Brien goal early and good points from Dara Crowley ensured Kinsale led after the 1stquarter. Laochra Og however kept the pressure on and the half time score-line was 1-3 to 6 points. Despite strong performances from Evan O Connor, Harry Sheehan, Kealen O Rourke, Darragh Mangan, Conor MacCarhty and Jack Wall, Laochra Og were 4 points up going into injury time. But this Kinsale team has a never say die attitude and a goal from Super Sub Luke Desmond meant there was a point between the team with a minute left. Good work from Brian O Neill and David Barry led to a free being awarded and with the last puck of the game Darragh Crowley stood up to level the game. Kinsale started on a bright note in extra time with goals from Darragh Crowley and John O Brien, with Cian O Sullivan excelling in goal and James Rooney Crowley showing extreme bravery on the pitch, Kinsale dominated extra time and ran out 5-10 to 3-11 winners.

Panel: Cian O Sullivan ©, Evan O Connor, Darragh Mangan, Kealen O Rourke, Conor McCarthy, Jack Wall, Darragh Crowley, David Barry, Harry Sheehan, Brian O Neill, James Crowley Rooney, Luke Desmond and John O Brien. Manager: Brian ‘Corcoran’ Murphy.

Next up for Kinsale is quarter final of Championship where they will play Whites Cross on Wednesday 15th July in Whites Cross at 7.30pm
