Under 12 East B Football League – played 17th June 2015 (Away)                               - report submitted by Glynn Aherne

Aghinagh 1-7 Kinsale 7-4

After a slow start Kinsale have a comfortable win in the league on Wednesday night against Aghinagh. Playing with the wind Aghinagh started brightly in the match and scored three unanswered points. Kinsale came into the match with a well worked team goal. A combination of Aghinagh’s bright start, some poor decision making from Kinsale in front of goal, and good work from Ben O’Connor in midfield, the first half finished level 1-6 to 3-0.

Kinsale playing with the wind started well in the second half scoring 1-2 unanswered. Playing much better as a team, Kinsale dominated the second half scoring 4-4, restricting Aghinagh to 1 point and finished out comfortable winners on the night. Best on the night for Kinsale was Jayden Healy, Michael McCarthy, Luke Henson & Charlie Sheehan.

Under 14 A East Football Championship Final – played Thursday, 18th June        - report submitted by Barry Ferguson.

Kinsale 3-12, Canovee 1-9

Kinsale started strongly in the first half, playing with the breeze and racked up a score of 2-6 to 1-4 with John O'Brien getting the two goals. Kinsale were well on top but were unlucky not to be further ahead after hitting the crossbar four times in this half.

The breeze died in the second half which helped Kinsale to pile on the pressure again scoring 1-6 in the half, the goal coming from Harry Sheehan this time. Canovee continued to press but were very well marshalled by the Kinsale defence who withstood any pressure put on them and continued to funnel back when any danger reared its head.  Paddy Desmond had a solid game in goals with little he could do for the Canovee goal.  The Kinsale midfield of Harry Sheehan and Kealan O'Rourke controlled the central area providing fast ball into the forwards. The forwards moved well and their interlink play was fast, direct and effective.

Canovee were very reliant on their full forward who scored 1-7 of their overall score from various positions as he was moved around to try and get the better of the Kinsale defence.

Kinsale's scores, on the other hand, came from different players with points coming from John O'Brien, Harry Sheehan, Michael Murphy, Luke Desmond, Brian O'Neill and Finn O'Brien.

After the victory speech by Harry Sheehan the team made its way back to Kinsale for a celebration drive around the town and then to Hamlets for the evening.

The Panel on the night was:

1 Paddy Desmond 2 James O'Donovan 3 Conor McCarthy 4 Patrick O'Leary 5 Conal Gilleran 6 Tom O'Connell 7 James Rooney 8 Kealin O Rourke 9 Harry Sheehan 10 Michael Murphy 11 Brian O'Neill 12 Brendan O'Connor 13 Finn O'Brien 14 John O'Brien 15 Luke Desmond 16 Robert Sweetnam 17 Jerry Coughlan 18 Cian Murphy 19 Daniel O Hanrahan 20 Cian Browne 21 Ryan O'Sullivan 22 Jack Walsh 23 Carwyn Lee 24 Sean Rua O'Donoghue 25 Thomas Grennan 26 Leon Buckley 27 Oisin Queva 28 Rory McCarthy 29 Peter O'Sullivan

Féile – Boys Under 14,  held in Limerick on Saturday, 20th June, 2015  -  report submitted by Barry Ferguson

1st Game

Kinsale 2-5  Clonlea Waterford 1-5

2nd Game

Kinsale 1-6  Eire Og Kildare 0-10

3rd Game

Kinsale 0-4  Shinrone Offaly 2-9

A Panel of 26 travelled to Old Christians in Limerick on the bus at 8.00am Saturday morning.  The Boys played well in the first game coming back with a late solo goal by Harry Sheehan to win.

The 2nd game again showed a late comeback but just coming up short by a point. The 3rd game was a one sided affair against the overall winners, Shinrone, Offaly.

The effects of the U14 Football win were telling at this stage with the lads tiring and losing concentration.

A good display overall taking into account the U14 Football win 2 nights before and the lack of any hurling in the last month due to football matches and preparation training for the East Final. A good way though to get back into the hurling!

Under 15 County Quarter Final          -              report submitted by Mike O Brien

In a lack lustre encounter Kinsale were comprehensively beaten by a physically stronger and faster Buttevant team.  Kinsale started promisingly and looked the better team holding a 6 points to 3 points lead after 20 minutes.  Buttevent then hit 7 unanswered points to lead by 5 at half time.  The 2nd half was oneway traffic and Buttevant ran out easy winners.  On a positive note, Cian O Sullivan was named ‘Man of the Match’ after he made a series of outstanding saves throughout the game.  His name was taken on the night by an Under 15 Cork Development Selector with the potential to join the Under 15 Development Team.

Intermediate Football Championship – 3rdRound                        - report submitted by Brian Murphy

Kinsale travelled to play Millstreet in Newcestown in the 3rd Round of the Intermediate Football Championship on Sunday 21st of June.  The game was played in sun-drenched conditions on a magnificent Newcestown pitch. It took a bit of time for both teams to settle but some early scores by Gearoid Finn, Peter Fitzgerald and Brian Coughlan helped Kinsale into the lead. A goal by Niall Stanley after great work from Micheal Cronin ensured Kinsale took a lead of 1-9 to 0-3 at the half time break. Kinsale kept Millstreet at arm’s length for most of the 2nd half and while there were some late drama where Andrew Lynch had to make a fantastic penalty safe in injury time, Kinsale ran out deserved winners on a score line of 1-12 to 11points. Kinsale will now enter the 4th round draw which will be made this week.

Provisional date for this fixture is 18/19th July.

Panel: Andrew Lynch, Stephen O Neill, Joe Moriarty, Conor Lane, Colm McCarthy, Wayne O Hea, Gearoid O Leary, Jermiah Wright, Micheal O Sullivan, Richard O Sullivan ©, Brian Coughlan, Derry O Callaghan, Timmy Broderick, Mark Coughlan, Gearoid Finn, Barry McCrory, Barry Grey, Sean O Brien, Ricky O Hanlon, Dara McCarthy, Eoin Scully, Peter Fitzgerald, Micheal Cronin, Niall Stanley.
