Kinsale GAA 7th Annual Golf Classic

It was a great day and night out last Friday (22nd May) at the Kinsale GAA Annual Golf Classic. Many thanks to Owen Murphy who organised another very successful event.  Kinsale GAA are very appreciative to all those who sponsored Signs at the Tee-Boxes and Greens and for to all those who donated sponsorship and spot prizes.  Have a look on Kinsale GAA’s Facebook page for all the photos and results on the day!

Boys Underage

Kinsale U14 footballers are our  1st under-age team to enter the championship fray for 2015 when they entertain Aghada in a highly anticipated clash in Kinsale this Thursday May 28th at 730 PM. Kinsale prevailed by a late burst of scoring earlier this year in a tight league encounter and Aghada will be keen to avenge the loss.

Kinsale will be short their “Gael Scoil” contingent and are also dealing with a few injuries. We therefore are requesting that we get as many supporters to the game as possible to help the lads along. This is an ideal opportunity for the newer coaches and kids to see what is ahead of them in years to come. Fortunately Kinsale are playing at home which make attending more convenient. We always hear that “we never knew it was on” so here is your opportunity……….

Kinsale 7-11 Killeagh/St Ita’s 2-4

Kinsale put in a fine performance last Monday night to secure 2 more league points in an away fixture down in Killeagh.  Down to the bare bones for selection  a strong 1st half performance where they lead by 4-5 to 1-0 was enough to secure victory. A mention to Paddy Desmond for his fine 2nd half penalty save. Many thanks to the parents who made the long journey.  Special mentioned to Gerry Coughlan who togged out the night before his SNC final.

Kinsale 5-12 Carrigaline 2-13

Kinsale travelled to Carrigaline to play a friendly last Saturday in preparation for this week’s championship. Carrigaline who are a grade higher were quickly out of the blocks to establish an early lead.  After a Kinsale fight back Carrigaline only  led by 3 points at HT. With a good spirited performance in the 2ndhalf (wind assisted) Kinsale took some impressive scores and eventually ran out winners.

A SPECIAL MENTION also for the following players who played last Saturday and Monday for Kinsale GAA even though they are today WEDNESDAY representing Kinsale Community School in their U14 Schools County final.

West Cork A Ladies Under 14 Final (Kinsale V O Donovan Rossa)

I’m sure by now you’ve all had a chance to read Mairead Cronin’s wonderful match report on this Under 14 win.  A fantastic achievement for all the girls, their coaches and mentors.  An example to one and all that the game is not over till the ‘Man in Black’ blows that final whistle!!! See Kinsale GAA’s Facebook page for photo’s.

County Quarter Final Under 14

Kinsale  V  Mallow Under 14 County Quarter Final will take place, at home, in the main pitch, Bandon Road, Kinsale next Monday, June 1st at 6.30pm.  Please come along and show your support and encouragement for these young girls.

History will be made on the last weekend in June in Wexford, when for the first time ever a team from Kinsale will travel to Wexford to play in the National Feile Finals.

Bannow Ballymitty will be our host club. It is a huge honour for the Under 14 Girls Football Team to represent Cork at this competition.

Hamlets (Blue Haven) have very kindly offered to sponsor a Coffee Morning for the girls on Saturday June 6th from 10am  to 12noon . The girls would love if you could join them and give a small donation to their fund.

There will also be a small raffle on the morning, so if anybody has any spot prizes at home that they would like to pass on, then bring them along on the 16th to Hamlets.

Kinsale GAA Club sincerely thanks  Cormac Fitzgerald  and all at Hamlets/Blue Haven for their very kind and generous offer to host this fundraising Coffee Morning for this very special event for the club.

Any questions/queries or if you would like to help out with the preparations for the Feile, please contact Mairead Cronin on 087-3238219

Great fun at the camogie blitz in the sunshine at Blackrock last evening. All our Kinsale camogie players U6, U8 and U10 played very very well.

This was Kinsale Camogie Clubs first 'Away’ Go Games Blitz and the very first game for our U10 Team who did the club very proud on their first outing.

Thanks to all the girls, coaches and parents for coming along!

First Camogie Game for our new club

Last Thursday, 21st May at the main pitch, Bandon Road, Kinsale,  a little bit of club history was made.  The very first Kinsale Camogie Team (Under 6) ever, played at the Jack Barrett Memorial grounds on Bandon Road!!

It was a fabulous evening up at the pitch, all the girls had a great time and really enjoyed themselves ... Some great hurling skills on display.

A great crowd turned up for this historic occasion and the atmosphere was electric. Thanks to Nemo Rangers for travelling down and for a great game of camogie. Well done to Derval Kelly, the U7 & U8 coach who made sure all the girls got game time and got them all organised to play.

Gaelscoil Chionn tSaile win at Sciath na Scol

The boys  had a great win yesterday  in Hurling at Sciath na Scol beating Little Island 1-8 to 0-3 points.  The team included players from 5th, 6th classes and some 4th class players too.  There was great celebrations after with all the school supporters running onto the pitch to congratulate their friends.

These young players have now completed a double by winning the Football Final before Christmas and now the Hurling yesterday.  A fantastic achievement.  Well done to all the players involved and  not forgetting their teachers and coaches too who along with the players put in tremendous work in over the past few months.

The lads enjoyed the traditional ‘lap around town’ honking horns yesterday afternoon to great applause from people who were out and about the town.  Check out Kinsale GAA Facebook page to see the photo’s and tonights Evening Echo!!

Thanks for your continued support for the club.
