Please support all our teams as they compete in their various fixtures over the next week or so – it’s so important to all the players to see lots of support and encouragement on the side-lines – no matter what their age :-)!!  – it really does make a difference.

Especially the home games – what better way to pass an evening – stroll up to the pitch, bring the kids and enjoy the fresh air while supporting your club.

Serious Support for all our players – don’t forget the club colours :-)

Match Reports:

Junior Ladies Camogie – Very first League win in only their second outing!!                      submitted by Noel O Sullivan

Our Junior Ladies travelled to Kilworth last Saturday (22nd April) to take on Kilworth also only a new Junior C Team (season 2 for them).

Again fearless in their approach our Kinsale Ladies left everything on the pitch as they contested for every ball (without the hurley even at one point!) and came away with a fantastic win on only their second ever game as a Junior C Squad.  Final score 3-3 to 2-5.

Everybody played very well with every member of the team contributing to this historic win.  A stand-out performance by goal keeper extraordinaire Eithne Fitzpatrick deserves a special mention though, denying Kilworth on several occasions.

There is no stopping these Hurlers – next up Blarney on 8th May! Bring it on!!

Intermediate Football – Ladies make it 3 from 3 as they prove stepping up to Intermediate is no biggie!

Kinsale Intermediates V Rosscarbery                                      submitted by Catherine Murphy and Christina Broderick

Kinsale Intermediate Ladies had an impressive win in the Division IB League away to Rosscarbery on Monday night. The score finished 5-9 to 1-5.

There were 24 players togged for the Kinsale side with many of the forwards getting on the score sheet including Aoife Keating, Jenny Murphy, Orla Finn, Sadhbh O'Leary and Hester McCarthy. Georgia Gould and Aideen Lynch played a stormer in mid field!

The Kinsale backs which included Caoimhe O Callaghan, Emma O Brien, Lorraine Coppithorne, Tracy McCarthy, Nicole Quinn and Christine Keohane defended very well and made it difficult for the Ross forwards.

Aisling Judge had a great game between the posts.

This was Kinsale's third win in the League having already beaten Clonakilty and Éire Óg.

U16, West Cork League                                                                   submitted by Mairead Cronin

Kinsale Under 16 Ladies Football team enjoyed a two point win over Valley Rovers in a tough opening game to the West Cork A League. This game was played last Sunday morning in Innishannon Village. Kinsale found the Valley Rovers defence very hard to break down for most of the game and were behind by two points at halftime. A few positional changes meant that Kinsale played better in the second half. Faye Ahern scored the only goal for Kinsale. The final score was Kinsale 1-11 , Valley Rovers 3-3. Next up for Kinsale will be a game V Bandon.

Kinsale  Panel :

Aine Harvey, Ashling Hurley, Aoife O Leary, Hannah Kellett, Ellie Condon, Dara Tyner, Sarah Murphy, Faye Ahern, Jenny Murphy, Sophie Webb, Daire Buckley, Niamh Cronin, Ava McCarthy, Hannah Kate Finn, Dara Wall, Maedhbh Hurley, Millie Allman, Ellie Cronin, Rosemary Buckley.

Sophie Neville, Lia Farley and Katelyn Forde were unavailable on Sunday.

We wish the Cork Minors, including Kinsale's Sadhbh O Leary, Georgia Gould, Tracey McCarthy and Juliette Cronin the best of luck in the Munster final on Monday, 1st May!

Under 16’s:

And we would like to congratulate once again the U16s on their Munster victory. It was great to have Faye Aherne, Jenny Murphy and Dara Tyner as part of the team.

Finally best wishes to the Cork Seniors in the All Ireland final V Donegal! They had a super win against Dublin and a special mention for Kinsale's Orla Finn who kicked 7 points!

Girls Football – U12                                    submitted by Brian Collins

Congrats to the Girls U12s on a great start to the league tonight.

They had a big win against Courceys 6-13 to 2-5.

Their next game is against Clonakilty on Monday week, 8th May in Kinsale.

Numbers are so big in the Girls U12 group 2 teams had to be entered into the U12 league for 2017 which is absolutely fantastic -  very positive for the future of the club!

Next up for Team 2 U12 is a game against Beara fixed for next Tuesday, 2nd May in Beara.

Boys Underage – U12 Hurling                                              submitted by Eithne Fitzpatrick

U12s drew tonight away to Ballygiblin  (practically in Limerick ) 2-5 each.

Great result after such a long journey. ..well done lads.

Lá na gClubanna – Sunday, 14th May 2017

Get ready for a Family Fun Morning at Kinsale GAA Club, Bandon Road. More details will follow next week – but hopefully the Marquee will be up,  mini-blitz’s for the kids, tea/coffee, sandwiches, cakes, music and don’t worry the Mammies and Daddies will get a chance to show off their Hurling and Football skills too;-).

Time approx. 11am to 2pm.

All details will be confirmed for definite next week – but pencil this date into the diaries- set the reminders in phones – everyone welcome to come along.

With matches, blitz’s, go-games underway now for all our future little stars – this fun morning is a way of saying “welcome to Kinsale GAA Club and Season 2017”.

Watch this space…………………more to follow next week :).

Next Club Meeting:

The club meeting for May will take place next Monday 1st at 9pm in the Blue Haven Cafe (entrance by reception).

All club members are welcome to attend.

Fundraiser Event – our Annual Golf Classic followed by Club Social Night

Okay everyone – it’s time to start clearing out the shed and drag out those golf clubs! Book that Day off Work. Perhaps book some sneaky refresher golf lessons and dawn of the morning tee-times (so you can get in those practice runs before work!!)  - if your serious that is about winning those all-important ‘Bragging Rights’ !!!!!

The Annual Kinsale GAA Club Golf Classic is fast approaching – Friday, 26th May in Farrangalway.

€180 per team of 3 which includes a meal afterwards.

Sponsors signs at tee box €50

Please support this Boys & Girls Underage Fundraiser – a great days Golf is ensured.

Don’t play golf! Maybe you might consider sponsoring a sign at a tee box – only €50 per sig – perhaps your place of work would make a donation, enter a team or sponsor a tee box sign – thank you all for your support for this fundraiser in advance.

Please contact Owen Murphy on 087-9810939 or Laurence Murphy on 087-9056737 (<>) or reply to this email.

Coaches Fun Matches - Social Night out

The Golf Classic Day Out will be followed on Saturday evening, 27th May by our now famous and fantastic ‘Friendly, non-competitive’ (yeah right!) Fun Coaches Matches (Men and Women mixed Teams - 20 mins hurling, 20 mins football) with a social night out ‘down-town’ later for the Golf Presentations and of course the post-match, post-golf in dept analysis.

So dust off the football boots, buy your mouth guard (mandatory for all players!!) Hurleys and Helmets can be borrowed so that excuse won’t work! – no doubt a training session could be squeezed in, in preparation for the coaches matches, right after the sneaky golf lessons and dawn of the morning tee-times :-) :-) :-).

Pencil these dates into your diaries, set reminders in phones, circle the 2 dates on the calendar! No excuses … A great time is ensured while supporting your club!!!

See Poster attached above re Golf Classic.

Kinsale GAA Summer Cúl Camp, August 2017

As the August Bank Holiday Monday (Regatta Weekend) is later this year – 7th August, Kinsale GAAs Cúl Camp in August 2017 will be held on the 14th to 18th August 2017.

On-Line Registrations are open, please click on the link below to register.  Reminder – Kinsale GAA’s Cúl Camp 2016 was completely booked out with over a week to go,  prior to the Camp starting.

To secure your child/children’s places and avoid disappointment please don’t leave it till the last minute – book asap possible to guarantee your child/childrens places.

Very Successful Fleadh Ceoil in Kinsale – Weekend of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April.

A fantastic event all round last weekend as the Fleadh Ceoil took over Kinsale and Music and Dance became the order of the day.

Many of our young GAA players took part and progressed to the Munsters  – proving their talent off the pitch as well as on!! Well done everyone.

Many thanks to all the Kinsale Club Members who volunteered to help out with various duties over the weekend.

GAA Café – We could do with a few more donations of Cakes/Buns to feed our ever increasing GAA Family:

Club Café  – Helping out in Café and Keeping Cake/Bun Stock Levels Up!!!!!

If you would like to help out with the ‘Café’ as regards taking  a slot on the Rota or can bake some buns/cakes -please text Carol 087-6966121 or Colette 087-9813765.

Stocks have been put under fierce pressure of late with Supply and Demand definitely not on an equal status.   On a few occasions recently we have had to disappoint a few people with buns/cakes being sold out very quickly – and there is nothing more disheartening than seeing that big smile of anticipation for the Sunday Treat  after training turn into tears and sometimes tanturms :-( !!

And the kids are normally a bit upset too!! :-) :-) :-)

So please please please if you can contribute a few cakes to our Club Café, please contact Carol or Colette and put an end to broken spirits and hearts on Sunday mornings!!

Additional Information:

West Cork Ladies Team:

The West Cork Ladies team held a fundraiser last Tuesday. Kinsale will have players involved again for 2017 . If anybody would like to make a donation towards the fund then please contact Mairead Cronin(0873238219 or<>).

Rugby 7s:

The very best of luck to Kinsale Rugby Club who are running/hosting their traditional Rugby 7s event this weekend.  Best of luck to all the teams – fingers crossed for dry weather!
