Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks 2020

Best practice coaching structures for successful clubs in Cork

Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks 2020 were successfully launched in early 2015 and provide a template for best practice in coaching, promoting maximum participation and optimal playing standards in juvenile clubs throughout Cork City and County. The programme includes minimum requirements for entry, with subsequent progression to Bronze, Silver or Gold target.

Bronze criteria are based on establishing a primary school coaching and games programme in schools within a club’s catchment area.

Silver criteria are based on an appropriate programme of club coaching and games for 5-12 year olds,

while Gold criteria are based on appropriate coaching and games for 13-18 year olds.

Kinsale GAA were one of only 18 clubs who were awarded this Gold Award. Thanks to all coaches within the club who contributed to this award and special mention must go to Coaching Officer, Ultan O Callaghan.

With a phenomenal History-making 2016 Season done and dusted – 2017 is claiming an Historic Event of its own early in the season – the first of many this season we hope.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE……………………………………………

Our first ever Junior Ladies Camogie League Match at The John Barrett Memorial Grounds  (AKA Main Pitch, Bandon Road!) will take place this coming Wednesday.

This is a fantastic achievement for our newly formed Camogie Club just beginning its 3rd Season.  We are now catering for Girls and Women who wish to play Camogie from Under 6 up to Under 14 and Junior Ladies.

Junior C League Camogie Match

Kinsale    V     Cobh

Wednesday, 12th April, 2017

Main Pitch Bandon Road,

Throw-in at 7pm

Let’s give our First Junior Ladies Camogie Team the acknowledgement and encouragement they so richly deserve by turning up in big numbers at this historic home game on Wednesday night.

It would be great to turn Bandon Road Pitch Blue & White and show our ‘very serious support’ as we begin this incredible journey with our Junior Camogie Ladies.  They have been training very hard in all kinds of weather in preparation for the season ahead and are very determined to play well and put in good performances, while at the same time enjoying the whole experience and havin some fun!.

Win, lose or draw on Wednesday night – they will have already created another little piece of Kinsale GAA History by becoming the first ever Junior Ladies Camogie Team to play at Bandon Road – but no doubt there is a lot more history in the making for this team in the future!

So don’t forget to set those reminders in your phones, put that star in the date on the calendar on the wall, or write it on your hand!!!!

Let’s get a big crowd up at Bandon Road on Wednesday night to welcome our newest Adult Team onto the pitch with a big Kinsale Cheer !!!

Don’t forget to wear your Club Colours !!

Some of our younger boys and girls may recognise a few coaches!!

GAA Café – We could do with a few more donations of Cakes/Buns to feed our ever increasing GAA Family:

Club Café  – Helping out in Café and Keeping Cake/Bun Stock Levels Up!!!!!

If you would like to help out with the ‘Café’ as regards taking  a slot on the Rota or can bake some buns/cakes -please text Carol 087-6966121 or Colette 087-9813765.

Stocks have been put under fierce pressure of late with Supply and Demand definitely not on an equal status.   On a few occasions recently we have had to disappoint a few people with buns/cakes being sold out very quickly – and there is nothing more disheartening than seeing that big smile of anticipation for the Sunday Treat  after training turn into tears and sometimes tanturms :-( !!

And the kids are normally a bit upset too!! :-) :-) :-)

So please please please if you can contribute a few cakes to our Club Café, please contact Carol or Colette and put an end to broken spirits and hearts on Sunday mornings!!

Thank you so much again everyone for all the fantastic support for the Café for the last few years – it has made major contributions to buying much needed gear and goalposts for all our future stars !

Kinsale to Host the Fleadh Ceoil – Weekend of Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April.

Kinsale have the great honour of hosting this year’s Fleadh Ceoil – so there will be an amount of great music and dance throughout the above mentioned weekend in April with many of our GAA Players taking part  - multi-talented girls and boys!

The Venue will be the Community School with Parking Zones at the Community School, Technical College, GAA Bandon Road and Saile.

The club are putting a shout out to all our club members to ask for help with car park stewarding for the Saturday and Sunday of the Fleadh Ceoil weekend.

So please if you have an hour or so to spare over the weekend of 22nd and 23rd April please get in touch.

Carol  Nyhan O Callaghan (her full title :-) !!)   is the contact so give Carol a text or a buzz if you can help out -  087-6966121.

Many thanks.
