Croker is Calling!

Peter Keane is leading us back to Croke Park for a meeting with Dublin on All Ireland Final Sunday! Last Sunday’s match was an incredibly tense affair. At half time, things were not looking good. We seemed to struggle against the Tyrone system. However, the second half was very, very different! The changes made by Management were the right changes at the right time. When David Clifford drew the game level, the Kerry Support became very vocal and made their voices heard. The players responded to the support with a super performance. Stephen O’Brien’s goal was inspirational and from there on, Kerry never relinquished the lead. The game finished Kerry 1-18, Tyrone 0-18.

While a lot of the media has focused on the small crowd in attendance, it is important to mention that Kerry were very well represented. We certainly had as many (if not more) supporters as Tyrone. Taking factors into account such as the time of the year and the cost of supporting Kerry throughout the Super 8s, the large number that travelled to support Kerry was very much appreciated by team and management alike.

The only real disappointment of the day was the fact that the Minors didn’t make it through to the All Ireland Final. It was so disappointing for all involved to lose the game by a single point. The game finished Galway 0-14, Kerry 0-13. It has been a record breaking run for the Kerry Minors. We sincerely thank these young men, Manager James Costello, his selectors and backroom team for the commitment and exceptional hard work over the last year. No doubt there are brighter days ahead for this talented group of people.

The Office staff in Austin Stack Park are preparing for the sale of tickets for the All Ireland Senior Football Final. Please note Office opening hours this week are Tuesday to Thursday 2-5pm and Friday 2-4pm. Details on Tickets will be made available in the coming days.

This is a very exciting time for Kerry fans at home and all over the world. Please get behind the team and decorate your homes and work places with the Kerry colours!

You will notice a number of fundraising initiatives are being arranged in the build up to the All Ireland final. We are grateful for all the financial support received. The car will be at a number of locations throughout the county where sellers will be selling car raffle tickets for 10 Euro. This weekend is our annual Church Gate collection at the majority of parishes around the county. Any contribution is much appreciated. All money received is for the team training fund.

Kerry Senior Footballers’ Open Day

Peter Keane is delighted to announce details of a ‘meet and greet’ with the Senior players and Management on Saturday at 12 noon in Fitzgerald Stadium. Gates will be open from 11 o’clock. Children are encouraged to bring a ball or alternatively footballs can be purchased at the event. Kerry GAA has produced our ‘Official Autograph Book’. These are limited edition memorabilia for the 2019 All Ireland Final. We sincerely thank all the businesses who sponsored the production of the book. Each business is acknowledged in the book under the photo of the player that they are ‘sponsoring’.

This ‘Official Autograph Book’ will be on sale at this event on Saturday for the price of 5 Euro. Families are encouraged to purchase the book at the entrance into Fitzgerald Stadium and then seek out the players’ autographs! This is sure to be a keepsake for many years to come!

As large crowds are expected, we ask everyone to follow the directions of the stewards. We hope everyone enjoys the occasion. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and chat with the Kerry players. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us!
