Seniors qualify for Leinster Final

Following a hard fought victory over Wexford champions Shelmaliers on Saturday last in Hollymount, our senior team have qualified for their second Leinster final in 4 years.  The final score of Foxrock Cabinteely 3-15 Shelmaliers 1-6 is not a fair reflection on the closeness of the game. Some terrific defending from our ladies stemmed a lot of Shelmaliers attacks and coupled with the excellent shooting of the forwards, was enough to see our ladies through to the final.   Sincere thanks to the Shelmaliers club for the hospitality shown to players and supporters after the game.

The Leinster final will be on Saturday November 7th at 1 p.m. in Clane where the opponents will be Mountmellick Sarsfields of Laois. Mountmellick – who have just won their third Laois senior championships in a row – comprehensively beat Sarsfields of Kildare by 4-15 to 3-07.

G4M and others Blitz report

The G4M team headed off to their blitz in Portmarnock on Saturday October 17th proudly sporting their new Jersies sponsored by Gowan Motors.  31 counties were represented in the blitz with over 100 clubs taking part.  Foxrock Cabinteely were placed in a group with teams from Down, Kilkenny, Waterford, Galway and Tipperary.

After a vigorous warm up with Ireland’s Mr Motivator, Richard Clifford, we lined out for our first match against St Anne’s of Waterford.  Foxrock Cabinteely won this match well but were brought back to earth in the second match being beaten by Ardfinnan of Waterford.  The third and fourth matches against Thomastow of Kilkenny and An Fhairche Clonbur of Galway were close affairs with Foxrock Cabinteely wining one and losing one.  Our final match of the day was against Saval of Co Down.   This was a very tight match finishing in a one point win for Foxrock Cabinteely.

Foxrock Cabinteely Gaelic4Mums team are always looking for new members.  No previous experience is necessary.  Training every Tuesday night in Loreto Foxrock at 8pm.

U13 finals

Best wishes to our U13 teams when they take on Ballinteer St. Johns in the division 2 shield final and Garristown in the division 4 cup final this Saturday (October 31st). The division 2 shield final throws in at 3:30 and the division 4 final starts at 12:30.  Both games are in Kilbogget Park so it’d be great to see club members come out and support both teams.

As well as hosting these 2 final, we are also hosting the division 2 cup final between Ballyboden and Beann Eadair, the division 4 shield final between Ballyboden and Kilmacud Crokes and the division 6 shield final between St. Monica’s and Ballyboden.

The parents of the U13 teams will be selling tea, coffee and cakes during the finals and all proceeds will go towards next year’s Féile. Donations of cakes, buns etc. would be greatly appreciated as well as extra bodies to man the tea stall during the day. Please get in contact with Joanne Moloney if you can help out in any small way.

U10 blitz report

2 teams v Clontarf

1 team v Cuala

1 team v Stars of Erin

FoxCab U10s played a 4 team blitz in Kilbogget on Saturday 24th October. Clontarf turned up with two very strong teams and Cuala, Stars of Erin one team each. Fox Cab had 4 teams of 10 girls competing in two games per team.

The girls, have been focusing in training on the ability to work as a unit, where no one player was more important than another and where we relied on fast, accurate hand passing to move the ball around into space and above all maintain possession.

The under-10s produced an outstanding performance, with all 4 teams excelling themselves in terms of passing, tackling and with well-worked team play, resulting in some very good scores.

The smiling faces at the end of Saturday’s blitz said it all. The hard work had paid off with a very successful and enjoyable day.

Now it's back to the training ground on Tuesday evening at 6:30 under lights in Kilbogget to increase the intensity of our training through pad-work, core fitness and physical tackling drills.

Thanks to all girls who took part and thanks again to all the parents for their support and we are also very appreciative of the work you do.

The under 10 management have been instrumental in giving all players the opportunity to play team sports – (with every girl getting to play full games) - and in the development of the girls skills in Gaelic football.
