West Cork U-16 V St James
Rossa Park Skibbereen was the venue for the eagerly awaited Rebel OG West U-16 C final between Clann na nGael and St James last Saturday evening. The heavy showers before throw in failed to put a damper on this exciting affair with both teams giving it their all until the final whistle.
Clann na nGael found it hard to settle in the first half and St James went in at half time two points to the good. Half time score St James 0-8 Clann na nGael 0-6. Scores for Clann na nGael Daniel McCarthy 0-2, Timmy Roberts, Denzil Fernandez, Daniel Fernandez and Mark Shanahan a point each.
The young Scorchers settled down in the second half and the scores started to flow. Johnny Mulhern raised the green flag to kick start the Scorcher revival. Denzil Fernandez added two points before Johnny raised the green flag twice more and the white flag once. St James added five points to their tally but could not get the ball past the outstanding Clann na nGael custodian Colin Clayton. Further goals one each from Denzil and Daniel Fernandez along with a point from Dylan Shannon secured a 12 point win for the boys from Drimoleague and Drinagh. Final Score Clann na nGael 5-10 St James 0-13.
There were great scenes of celebrations when Fergal Keohane presented the cup to Clann na nGael captain Seamus O Regan.
Clann na nGael now go on to play the runners up in the east division on next Saturday 11th October. Opposition, time and venue yet to be decided.

Clann na nGael U-16 girls have reached the West Cork Final following their one point win over Clonakilty on Monday night.
The girls played in a cracking game of football
in which both sides
were evenly matched with just a kick of the ball between them in the end.
Clann na nGael got a
great start when the scored a goal early in the first half. However Clonakilty
battled back and both sides swapped scores to leave the half time score 2-4 to
Clonakilty 2-3 to Clann na nGael.
At the start of the second half, the Scorcher the girls got off to a flying
start and deservedly took the lead. But once again Clonakilty battled back to
lead by 5 points with ten minutes to go.
This thrilling game got more exciting as Clann na nGael got
1-3 without reply in the last 7 minutes to lead by a point. Clann na nGael defended their lead and saw out the game to win by a point. Final score Clann na nGael 4-7 Clonakilty 4-6.
The girls now play
Courcey Rovers in the final. Date, time and venue yet to be decided.

Clann na nGael Lotto draw took place in May Deane’s on Monday night. The Jackpot was €5,400 and the numbers drawn were 8,18,19,22. There was no match 4 or match 3 winners. The three consolation prizes of €20 each went to Sinead O Brien, Rian Connolly and Daniel and Brian McCarthy. Next week’s lotto jackpot is €5,600 and the draw will take place on Monday night next in O Donovan’s Bar Drinagh. Tickets costing €2 or three for €5 are now on sale.
