Roscommon LGFA Notes   31/07/2017

Roscommon Ladies  latest News

All roads this week lead to Drumlane in Cavan at 2pm on Saturady as the The Ward Bros sponsored intermediate take on Ulster counterparts Down in their upcoming all Ireland qualifier series. The winners play Sligo in the quarter finals. Please come out and support the girls in their quest for victory.

The final games of the group stages of our club championships took place last weekend with round 5 games taking place in senior and intermediate grades, unfortunately we don’t have all the results to hand but what we do are as follows;

 Abbey Hotel Senior Championship:

Shannon Gaels 6-10 Padraig Pearses  4-14

St Brigids 0-02 Kilbride  6-23,

Clann na nGael  2-10 Strokestown 6-04

Hydrotech Water Supplies Intermediate Championship:

Western Gaels 2-11 Boyle 0-15.

Michael Glaveys V St Ciarans  (Postponed)

Kilglass Gaels beat Eire Og.

Keenans Bar and Restaurant Junior B Championship.

Kilbride 11 V Four Roads  (result not in)

Roscommon Gaels V Kilmore (result not in)

All this leaves the championships down to the semi-final pairings. In the senior championship champions Kilbride will take on Shannon gaels and Strokestown will play Clann nA nGael. In the Intermediate its not quite finalized yet as there is a fixture outstanding and there may also be a playoff involved. For now the only thing for certain we know is that Western Gaels have qualified as group winners and Kilglass as runners up. Boyle, Eire Og and St Ciarans are battling it out for the remaining two spots.

In the Junior A championship its St Faithleach's V St Mary's and Castlerea V St Barry's.

Finally the last round of Junior B fixtures take place next weekend which sees Four Roads take on Roscommon Gaels and Kilmore play Kilbride 2.

Development squad updates:

Our newly formatted development squads at U13, U15 and U17 are up and running and are training hard. These squads will be a tremendous help to next years championship panels and will we hope give a stronger squad etic to our U14, U16 and minor panels of 2018.

They U13 are in the middle of collating their panel, They U15 started their training regime last Saturday and the U17's have been at it a while as they are the first into action as they compete in the All-Ireland Blitz in Abbotstown on the 15th of August.  Well down to the management teams and to the girls involved.
