Dunne’s Bar Division 1 League

The Senior lads were up against Mohill on Saturday evening in this year’s league fixture, hoping.to improve on the semi-final defeat from last year, and improve they did putting in a momentous performance to clinch a great win in front of a lively home crowd. The match was played in difficult conditions with heavy rain falling leading to a slippy ball and pitch. Mohill were the quicker to settle and added two quick points in the first six minutes of the match, the lads responded with a great 45 from Phillip quickly followed by at first Luke and then Wayne with a couple of points both from frees to give Ballinamore the lead. Mohill added a goal on 9 mins to regain the lead and then quickly added a point before Wayne again cut the deficit with a free followed by a great point by Peter and another Wayne free. Mohill ended the half with another point of their own to leave the half time score Ballinamore 0:6 Mohill 1:4. Ballinamore started the second half well quickly drawing level with a Wayne free , followed by a Mohill Point and then Niall scored a great goal to give Ballinamore the lead, Luke and Wayne quickly added a couple more points before Mohill responded with a couple of points, with 44 mins gone the score was Ballinamore 1:9 to Mohill ‘s 1:7 , next up was Peter who scored a great penalty to increase the lead to 5 points, Mohill responded well scoring a point before they were awarded a penalty and the opportunity to cut the lead to one, the penalty was well struck but Phillip in the Ballinamore goal was equal to it and pulled of a great save much to the delight of the home supporters. Mohill were not to be deterred and began to exert pressure on the Ballinamore back line and added two good points to leave the deficit at 2, with Mohill continuing to push forward the Ballinamore lads broke well and worked in a good score for Shane Moran to increase the lead back to 3, Mohill were to add the last two scores of the game with the lads holding on for an impressive win by a final score of 2:10 to 1:12. The win leaves the lads on 8 points in second place just behind Mohill on score difference
